commands the angels

When God commands the angels, what does it sound like?
Does he speak softly like a whisper
or with strength as the thunder?

When God commands the angels, what would His words be?
Would they be a general idea that the angels understand
or so specific as to tell the future?

When God commands the angels, is it in voice or song?
Does he speak with words or melodies
or speak from spirit to spirit without sound?

When God commands the angels, how does he choose?
Does he choose the highest angel for the greatest tasks
or the lower angel to show his depth of sovereignty?

When God commands the angels, how do they come?
Do they come with humble strength ready to act
or do they come with anticipation of what the next move will be?

When God commands the angels, there is one thing that we know...
That they listen and obey.
That they follow through and make it happen.
That they act with His strength and power.

Oh, that He may command me as an angel...as a high priest...as a daughter.
And that I may listen and obey.

(Inspired by the angel Gabriel's visit to Zechariah in Luke 1 and the curiosity of God commanding Gabriel and telling him what to do and say to Zechariah.)

eyes

eyes looking down
looking around
looking for something

looking into myself
looking into a mirror

looking around at the world
looking around to see others

looking to make connection
looking to see something deeper

looking for what may be real
looking for an excuse

looking in the brightest spots
looking in the darkness

looking and never finding
because i'm looking everywhere

everywhere but the one place i should
everywhere but the one place that is all that matters
everywhere but in the eyes of the One that loves me

of the One that encourages me
of the One that sees me clearly
of the One that wants to give me true desires

of the One that holds reality in His hands
of the One that can look me eye-to-eye and keep me still
of the One whose eyes are the only to pierce, love, share peace, and so much more

oh, that my eyes would look up and lock eyes with His,
my Love,
my Beloved,
my God.

energy

where do we find our energy? we can see it in the obvious things...food, exercise, happy moments, and more.

but is there more to it? is there something deeper? can we find energy to live our lives fully outside of these basic things.

yes, we can. but the key is looking for it outside of our natural bodies. we have to look for it from somewhere bigger.

the true energy source is when that bigger person has been united within us. sounds weird right? well, it is. and its something that's not fully understandable. but it is still undeniable.

when we find our energy by the power of our change in identity, that's when we will have energy for life. when we look deep and see how we have a new being within us from that day of giving ourselves up and becoming united in a bigger being, that's when we can live fully and not grow tired.

we can fast all we want, we can push through hard times when we have to, we can go beyond what is typically humanly possible...because we have a direct line to THE energy source and He is with us in a deeper way that we can ever imagine.

and that's the kind of energy that's really worth fighting for and letting everything go for.

something happens

when we pray together something happens
something more
more than we can see

when we pray together something happens
something in our hearts
hearts binding together

when we pray together something happens
something deeply rooted
roots growing strong

when we pray together something happens
something stronger than one
one or many or more

when we pray together something happens
something inside us
we change, we move

when we pray together something happens
something encouraging
leaving us with peace

when we pray together something happens
some things happen
big things happen
amazing things happen
strong things happen
deep things happen
prayer happens.

dependence

dependence. is it good? is it bad? is it ugly? is it beautiful?

it is. all of the above.

dependence is not a negative or positive word or action or being alone. its so much more complicated than that. dependence on certain things is good and other things is bad. dependence on peace is good and not something we can change in our nature. dependence on alcohol is bad for heath, emotions and the wallet.

dependence is both ugly and beautiful as well. dependence on one person can turn into the ugliest situation and memories you can create. while dependence on the right One can be the most beautiful decision and every day existing memory you can ever have.

what are we dependent on? what am i dependent on? what are you dependent on?

is this creating a bad ugly picture in your life or a good beautiful one?

time, time, time

"time is of the essence"

"for such a time as this"

"time is ticking away"

time is something that always seems to eludes us. no matter how many humans try to figure out time and how it works, no one can seem to get a real grasp on it. tons of movies, shows and books portray people trying to travel in time, both to the past and to the future. always with the goal of a better outcome than the first time around or a glimpse into how things may turn out to reassure us of the present.

but time is never something that we can truly get a hold on. we can never grab it with our two hands (or with any machine or computer) and take control of it. we can't use it to accomplish our own purposes or adjust it to fix our mistakes. time is just time and our life revolves around it.

but there is a huge part of time that is something we can all hold onto. that someone bigger than us DOES have control of it. that something bigger than us can take time into its own bare hands and steer it and guide it exactly how it should be to create the best results.

could i be teasing? does this someone or something really exist?

it does. He does. and that's a fact worth holding onto a lot more than trying to grasp at something like time which slips out of our hands before we can even blink.

i'm inspired by a wonderful story about a young Queen named Esther. her story is surrounded in every direction (before, after, during) by this fact. if we can all get a glimpse of this fact through her life's story, then we would all understand this wonderful cliche:

"timing is everything"

a kind word

sometimes the most important thing we can do during one day is speak one kind word to someone we see. whether it's just a hello or encouraging them about something you enjoy about them or offering them a compliment, these small actions and words can create waves of importance. but it's more than a "pass it on" kind of thing. it's about how that small thing becomes a wave within that one person's life. that small word or phrase could alter their attitude completely for a day, week, even month or more. their self-esteem could have been at the lowest point of desperation and that one compliment made them rise to a point of survival again. we don't know where someone is in their life: a hole, a mountain, a valley, or swimming in an endless ocean. but one thing is certain-a kind word will always help them along in their journey no matter where they are.

delight

trust and dwell is what you say
delight and you'll give us our way?

is there more to that or simple steps
to sit with you leads us to blessed?

to depths we go in learning trust
and dwelling grows, as it must

for all the desires laying in our hearts
are ready for the taking, if only to start

to understand how to truly delight
in simple terms, to lay in sunlight

for sunlight offers its gift with ease
by asking us only to stop and receive

with just a simple spot to lay
we take in the gift, ray by ray

could it be so simple, that to delight
is like receiving simple sunlight?

it is, my sweet, that's all it is
to share in all He has and is

so stop we must, and receive we will
as we delight in Him and in the still

our hearts together and with this comes
the same desires, one by one

oh what a gift, oh what a delight
to sit and receive in His rays of sunlight!
