time, time, time

"time is of the essence"

"for such a time as this"

"time is ticking away"

time is something that always seems to eludes us. no matter how many humans try to figure out time and how it works, no one can seem to get a real grasp on it. tons of movies, shows and books portray people trying to travel in time, both to the past and to the future. always with the goal of a better outcome than the first time around or a glimpse into how things may turn out to reassure us of the present.

but time is never something that we can truly get a hold on. we can never grab it with our two hands (or with any machine or computer) and take control of it. we can't use it to accomplish our own purposes or adjust it to fix our mistakes. time is just time and our life revolves around it.

but there is a huge part of time that is something we can all hold onto. that someone bigger than us DOES have control of it. that something bigger than us can take time into its own bare hands and steer it and guide it exactly how it should be to create the best results.

could i be teasing? does this someone or something really exist?

it does. He does. and that's a fact worth holding onto a lot more than trying to grasp at something like time which slips out of our hands before we can even blink.

i'm inspired by a wonderful story about a young Queen named Esther. her story is surrounded in every direction (before, after, during) by this fact. if we can all get a glimpse of this fact through her life's story, then we would all understand this wonderful cliche:

"timing is everything"

a kind word

sometimes the most important thing we can do during one day is speak one kind word to someone we see. whether it's just a hello or encouraging them about something you enjoy about them or offering them a compliment, these small actions and words can create waves of importance. but it's more than a "pass it on" kind of thing. it's about how that small thing becomes a wave within that one person's life. that small word or phrase could alter their attitude completely for a day, week, even month or more. their self-esteem could have been at the lowest point of desperation and that one compliment made them rise to a point of survival again. we don't know where someone is in their life: a hole, a mountain, a valley, or swimming in an endless ocean. but one thing is certain-a kind word will always help them along in their journey no matter where they are.

delight

trust and dwell is what you say
delight and you'll give us our way?

is there more to that or simple steps
to sit with you leads us to blessed?

to depths we go in learning trust
and dwelling grows, as it must

for all the desires laying in our hearts
are ready for the taking, if only to start

to understand how to truly delight
in simple terms, to lay in sunlight

for sunlight offers its gift with ease
by asking us only to stop and receive

with just a simple spot to lay
we take in the gift, ray by ray

could it be so simple, that to delight
is like receiving simple sunlight?

it is, my sweet, that's all it is
to share in all He has and is

so stop we must, and receive we will
as we delight in Him and in the still

our hearts together and with this comes
the same desires, one by one

oh what a gift, oh what a delight
to sit and receive in His rays of sunlight!
